15 July, 2006 (Sat) - sunny day, extremely hot
woke up at 11, hea until 13, finally get my buds moving to a new place in tokyo for me: 吉祥寺, after reading some books, i decided that i wanted to visit somewhere with nice cafes and small shops.
It's quite far from Ueno but metro is comforable in tokyo, hehe, during the journey, there was a sudden storm and the train simply had to stopped for a while. We decided to get off at some unknown station and search for something to please our stomach first!
haha, lucky us, we went to a "not so 起眼" restaurant and ordered two sets of grilled fish....................YUMMY!! I would say this was really the yummiest grilled Mackerel i've ever had....haha. Later found out that it's actually a chain store, good...i'm gonna visit it often!
Yummy mackerel
After lunch, we hop back to the train and finally arrived at the 吉祥寺 station.
I immediately fall in love with this place, although it's almost outside tokyo downtown, it's definitely worth visiting.
There are so many pretty cafes, each with their own characters. Too bad that the one i wanted to visit is not smoking free and we finally choose another outdoor cafe.
yummy fruit tart with whipped cream
relaxing afternoon - this is how life should be, right?
plenty of other shops for foreigners (south-eash asian style), here's one fo my favourite: glasses with milky painted patterns
I really wanted to visit other parts of Japan sometime later, one of them would definitely be Okinawa. In view of that, we decided to try some okinawa cousine. Haha, we went to this okinawa restaurant opened up by a sumo wrestler from okinawa and had a great dinner there. People are so frank and humorous in that restaurant and i got to take a picture with the sumo wrestler.
me and sumo wrestler - what if he wanna throw me out?
Okinawa cousine is really unique, i would say it's not my cup of tea but i like the atmosphere, you felt like you're taking a day off or so while eating in the restaurant! (although i am really took a day off for that)
Haha, slept early today as well as we need to be prepared for tomorrow's long journey! Godnight
